“I Looked Out The Window”

Sung to "Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree"

I looked out my window and what did I see?

Two Mormon missionaries coming after me.

They came and gave me such a nice surprise -

A Book of Mormon right before my eyes.

They told me if I read it - and prayed about it too,

That Heavenly Father would tell me it was true.

I didn't think so then, but it turned out to be,

The very best thing that every happened to me.

One day, Sister Ritter tended two of her younger grandchildren. She decided to tell them about the creation of Adam and Eve, and then she read part of Genesis 3:19: “...til thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

Later that afternoon, Mindy noticed some dust on some of her grandmother’s furniture. She looked at it for a few minutes, and then said to her grandmother, “Grandma, there is some dust on your furniture. Is someone coming or going?” (Stories and Jokes of Mormon Folks, compiled by Bruce E. Dana, p. 69)

J. Golden Kimball: “All the investments I ever made in my life, except the one of two Liberty Bonds I have been able to pay for, at four per cent, I have paid from eighteen per cent down, and all I got out of it was experience; the other fellow got my money. But this investment we have started out for, the Lord has promised you an hundred fold . . . Salvation is the greatest gift of God to his children.” (J. Golden Kimball, His Sermons, December 1891-April 1938, edited by Bonnie Taylor, 171)
