The Book of Mormon was written for the House of Israel. From which tribe of the house of Israel did Lehi descend?
Lehi was a descendant of Manasseh, the son of Joseph, who was sold into Egypt. (See Alma 10:3). Scholars Welch and Seely suggest that “Lehi was probably a descendant of Manassite refugees who had fled south to Judah with others of the northern kingdom when the Assyrians attacked, destroyed, and deported Israel in 724-722 B.C.”
