What are the four Remember, Remember scriptures found in the Book of Mormon?
Remember is one of the most common words in the Book of Mormon---used over 300 times. They are often used to emphasis an important concept or principle that the writer or compiler felt was important for the reader---for us.
However, there are four times where the Book of Mormon used a double remember---remember, remember—for a concept or principle of extra importance. The four “Remember, Remember” scriptures are:
And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it.
Alma 37: 13
O remember, remember, my son Helaman, how strict are the commandments of God. And he said: If ye will keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land—but if ye keep not his commandments ye shall be cut off from his presence.
O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world.
And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
As you study the Book of Mormon, take time to mark when “Remember” is used to help remind you what is most important, especially the “Remember, Remember” verses.
