Question: What was a curelom mentioned in the Jaredite record?
Answer: Neither the “curelom” nor the “cumom” is mentioned in the Nephite record. A curelom appears to be a useful animal to the Jaredites. Some scholars suggest that a curelom was a mastodon, camel, alpaca, or Llama. The Jaredite record does not reveal more than the name of the animal.
“And they also had horses, and asses, and there were elephants and cureloms and cumoms; all of which were useful unto man, and more especially the elephants and cureloms and cumoms” (Ether 9:19).
